A. pectinifera is found at depths of 3 - 23 m in the tropical oceans of the Indo-Pacific region, from the Maldive Islands to Indonesia, northern Australia and the Great Barrier Reef, Papua New Guinea, Palau Island, Chuuk Atoll, Kwajalein Atoll, New Caledonia, and portions of the New Zealand Exclusive Economic Zone (Clark 1911 & 1931; Messing 1995 & 2012), see Fig. 9.
