EVOLUTION & SYSTEMATICS

Previously, Ctenophorans were considered to be Cnidarians (Rudman, 1991). Today, in cladistic, they are considered as a proper Phylum and to be the sister taxa of the Cnidarians (Schram, 1991; Nielsen et al., 1996; Peterson & Eernisse, 2001).
