Flatworm Carolina Marques (2012)
Pseudoceros prudhoei is a species of flatworm that belong to the group Polycladida. These animals are marine predators that feed on other small invertebrates called ascidians. They move over substrates by undulating body margins and many of them are brightly colored, suggesting toxicity. Flatworms are considered compact because they lack a coelom and a hemal system and, consequently, rely on diffusion for gas exchange and internal transport. For this reason, they have a very flattened body and a branched intestine that helps transporting nutrients to the periphery of the body. Moreover, flatworms are hermaphrodites with both male and female reproductive systems functional at the same time.
