Distribution
Gymnodorididae species occur worldwide. Most of them are found between Japan to Australia, and majority of species are seen in Indo-Pacific Ocean (Debelius & Kuither 2007). Gymnodorididae species live in warm so they are mostly tropical (Wells & Bryce 1993). Red dots show the places where Gymnodorididae species were found.
However, yellow-daubed Gymnodoris (Gymnodoris sp.) are only found in Lizard Island and Heron Island, Great Barrier Reef, Queensland, Australia (Marshall & Willan 1999; Wagele et al. 2006). Therefore, this species are apparently described as endemic species in Great Barrier Reef, Queensland (Marshall & Willan1999; Coleman 2008). The yellow-daubed Gymnodoris marks indicate where they were seen.
