Local Distribution

Currently is minimal available data on the distribution of H. impatiens in Australian waters (Cannon and Silver 1986). As this species is generally found in shallow warm water reef flats it is highly likely numerous populations are yet to be discovered around Australia (James 2001). Studies that have been conducted in Heron Island, North Queensland, reveal that H.impatiens are quite common among the reef flats.
