Internal Morphology

P. ocellatus carries the same internal anatomy as the gastropod, where food is first processed by the radula, followed by the buccal cavity, gut (oesophagus, stomach, intestine) and lastly, is excreted at the anus.

The parapodia of this sea slug can be extended to reveal emerald coloured ridges (lamellae) along the entire dorsal section of the animal. The dorsal lamellae are made up of the aggregation of the digestive cells that is packed with algae’s chloroplasts.
