Micro-habitats and Associations
They are normally found on surface of large shallow-water holothurians (Gibbs, 1972). They could be found in the families Stichopodidae (genera Stichopus and Thelenota), and Holothuriidae (Holothuria and Bohadschia) and about 11 species altogether (Hanley, 1993)
From the observations of Gibbs (1969), a maximum of three of g. clavigera was found in any one host, this might be an evidence of intra species competition.
